Building a House for God

People spend years planning and building their own houses. We save, budget, draw plans, buy materials carefully, and celebrate every stage—from the foundation to the roof. A house matters because it provides shelter, identity, and belonging. In the same way, building a house for God matters deeply, because it becomes a place where lives find meaning, direction, and hope.
The Bible reminds us, “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it” (Psalm 127:1). While our personal houses protect our bodies, God’s house nurtures the soul. It is where prayers rise, faith grows, and hearts are restored.
The recent K1.8 million donation by His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema toward the construction of Libala Seventh-day Adventist Church is a powerful act of faith and leadership. Just as families commit resources to build homes for their loved ones, this gesture highlights the importance of investing in a spiritual home for the community. It affirms that true development is strengthened when faith, values, and service are upheld.
Scripture reminds us of God’s desire to dwell among His people: “And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them” (Exodus 25:8). A church, therefore, is not merely a building, but a sacred space where God meets His people.
Ellen G. White writes, “The church is God’s appointed agency for the salvation of men. It was organized for service.” These words capture the heart of what Libala SDA Church stands for. Once completed, it will serve as a center of worship, guidance, and outreach—strengthening families, nurturing young people, and supporting the wider Libala community through spiritual care, health education, and acts of compassion.
When people build their own houses, they do so with the future in mind—children, family, and legacy. Building a house for God carries the same vision, but with eternal impact. What is built for God becomes a lasting blessing beyond our lifetime.
“Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase” (Proverbs 3:9). May this moment inspire hearts to support God’s work and recognize the blessing found in building His house.
Call to Action
We invite all well-wishers, friends, and partners to join us in building God’s house. Every contribution, given in faith, helps raise a place of worship, service, and hope for the Libala community. “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give” (2 Corinthians 9:7).
